Pledge of Allegiance: 1942

Under God added to Pledge: 1954

In God We Trust: 1956

Been seeing people attribute this stuff to the Founding Fathers as if the US of A was built around a pledge and a slogan.

Despite the fact that Out of Many, One was the original motto for this nation, some decided that we needed God on our money to keep from being heathens.

Don’t bother pondering that for too long — it would be un-American.

The mid-late-50s were the beginning of a coordinated labor of love toward forcing this country into corporotheocracy. God + Money = Paradise.

Ironically, Jesus went up against Santa and lost — bigtime. Before ol’ Kris Kringle came along, Christmas celebrations were pretty wild — go look it up. Jesus just couldn’t keep folks from wassailing and um — public displays of…well, “stocking stuffers.”

Songs, magazines, and stories gave us much of the questionable culture we have today — including the Pledge of Allegiance. There’s nothing sacred about it all. There’s nothing sacrosanct about money. Go ahead and put Christ back into Christmas and East back into Easter. Make up your mind about which stories you want to tell your precious children.

Tooth Fairies and Satan don’t belong together in this world. Fucking up reality for children is supposed to be a bad thing. There’s no such thing as a good lie, right?

Many of us know right from wrong and good from bad without homilies or seasonal fables. We also know what the Constitution says. And the Declaration of Independence.

We also know that going backwards as a society is not the answer. The 50s are over. That was almost 70 years ago. Those of you who call that their heyday have had your time. Not everything you did was right. Not every choice you made was wise.

Times fucking change. Evolution happens on many levels. Every day can be a glory day. Stop denying the rest of us our chance to make a better world.

Oh, and I’d be happy to offer suggestions for where you can stick that Elf on a Shelf.
